Carl Sagan, Jeddak of the Cosmos
"I can remember as a child reading with breathless fascination the Mars novels of Edgar Rice Burroughs. . . . I can remember spending many an hour in my boyhood, arms resolutely outstretched in an empty field, imploring what I believed to be Mars to transport me there."
-Carl Sagan (1934-1996)
Sagan was a great science educator and a voice for reason in a world that so desperately needs it.
ReplyDeleteHe will be missed.
Carl Sagan rocks! I have the DVD set of Cosmos and many of his books. I remember that quote from when I was a child of 9 or so, and when I was an adult I read the book Cosmos and was thoroughly entranced, especially by that quote.
ReplyDeleteI wish I'd been able to meet him...
Grew up on that guy! Cosmos was my fave read of the early 80's.
